Proposal at Castello di Amorosa | Calistoga, California
My husband and I were at a friends party when a request popped in my inbox for a proposal at Castello di Amorosa. Eric had a specific look he was going for, and so it got a little interesting as Tim and I used Google Maps, and a few other apps to draw a diagram of where things were and where to meet! I'm telling you- the idea of photographing a proposal is so fun, but a LOT goes on behind the scenes in order to make it happen!I am so thankful for modern technology- there is a way to track vehicles on WAZE, and there is now a way to track Ubers! In this case, though, Eric just told me what color car they were in (which of course changed once they got to the rental company!), and we met bright an early before all the tourists started filling up the winery. I swear, you blink and the place goes from deserted and quiet to lines and lines of people! There is a reason people come to this winery...its GORGEOUS!Then, it was time for me to find just the right vineyard row...guys, it was no joke watching me run for row to row! Instead of stressing out on telling him which row to meet in, I told him to find me, and then ask me to take a photo of them with his phone. It was a great way to connect and so much easier than trying to hide (with two cameras and a big lens hanging off me, its hard to look inconspicuous!)But it was ALL worth it, and the perfect last shoot before heading off to Mexico for a week to shoot THIS wedding! The drive from Healdsburg to Calistoga, even after the fires last year, is still so peaceful. I am so luck to call this place home!
