Zelda Forest Themed Wedding at Ramekins | Sonoma, California
When Courtney first inquired about my services for her wedding, she told me about how they met online, took a chance, and fell in love! They share a love of nerding out on video games and other Fandom. They chose a Zelda Forest Themed Wedding at Ramekins, and it was magical for sure!
The morning of the wedding, it drizzled in Healdsburg, and then drizzled a bit more as I made my way to Sonoma. When I arrived, the rain stopped, and I went to find both Alyssa’s (the wedding planner and the florist had the same name...nope, didn’t get confusing at all! Lol) and they were both setting up and going back and forth on whether or not to call it and move everything indoors. Courtney’s wedding vision was to have everything outside, so the plan was kept.
I went to the bridal suite to find Courtney getting ready with her gorgeous emerald green locks. Wowza, she rocked it! Also, at one point an aunt comes in to give her a hug, and I did a double take as I realized it was the Mom of one of my friends from high school! Such a small world to see them at the wedding!
After taking some getting ready shots, I went downstairs to take some shots of the reception site, and I’m so glad I did...you’ll see why in a second!
All went as planned and the couple got married outside. About 5 minutes into the ceremony, however, the rain decided to return. Umbrella’s started to pop up, but the ceremony continued...I loved how the bride and groom kept with their vows, as if nothing had happened. One of my favorite shots of the day is of Courtney’s Mom, smiling through the drizzle, as her daughter said “ I do”.
After the ceremony, everyone ran for cover under the overhang of the reception site. For a minute, we thought it would be ok...but then it started to come down, and the crew at Ramekins worked fast and brought all the tables inside! We found a pretty hallway to hide from the rain and do family photos, and then ran inside!
Huge kudos to the vendor team! Such a fun group, we just laughed when we got soaked outside, improvised fast, and chatted about how we were so lucky to witness a couple who’s number one desire was just to be married.
I knew we wouldn’t get a conventional “golden hour”, so when while I was shooting the cake table a guest commented on how the rain had let up for a moment, I grabbed the couple for a few photos outside. We only got about 10 minutes but that was all we needed! Thankful that Ramekins has such gorgeous grounds!
Last but not least...the dancing! AMS never disappoints, and it was great to see Joe out there doing his thing. He played great music, even the bartender was getting down!
I can’t wait to shoot another wedding at this venue, maybe during the summer or early fall next time 😉
