Wedding at Presidio Yacht Club at Travis Marina | Sausalito, California
When Kimberly booked me for her November wedding at Presidio Yacht Club at Travis Marina, I was so excited and just a tad curious what the weather would be like-
This venue is located off the last exit before you drive over the Golden Gate Bridge, so it has amazing views when it’s a clear day; but Bay Area weather is SO tempramental! My husband and I rode bikes over the GGB in June a few years ago and it was so foggy we couldn’t see anything! As you drive down the 101 from Sonoma County, you can usually see the thick fog rolling in; it’s pretty trippy!
You guys!!! Kimberly & Ryan’s wedding day was all we could have ever imagined! The weather was perfect...we got a great view of the bridge, the city and we were not freezing!
A few months before, I had done a venue walkthrough with Kim, her sister and her Dad, and when I walked up, I saw a man with them that I felt I knew (he is married to an old friend of mine from college), and ran up to say hi! He looked so confused, but was trying not to show it in front of his clients. I see him on social media here and there through my friend Carrie’s posts. Has that ever happened to you before? Lol. Anyways, I quickly explained, we all laughed, and I found out that Miguel is the manager of the venue! Small world:)
The wedding party got ready at Casa Madrona and wow, such a beautiful place! We were able to do getting ready, first look and family photos there! It was perfect!
Then I got to take a ride in my first Tesla! The hotel has a Tesla that they use to take guests places, so I went with the bride and groom and MOB to the venue. I’m such a dork, but it was super cool to ride in a car where the doors lifted up when they opened!
I LOVED having extra time with the bride and groom at the venue before guests arrived. There is a walkway out my the boats that has rock on either side, with an incredible view of the GGB. I could have been out there all day!
I was so excited to see the decor of this wedding- a cross between tropical and nautical! I’m just gunna go ahead and put it out there- shooting a wedding in Hawaii is on my bucket list! - so all of the leafy greens had me 😍!
Something else totally special- I got referred to this bride by Marisa from So Eventful (she is best friends with the brides sister) and Marisa actually performed the ceremony! This meant I got to witness Marisa front and center, and that I got to work with Briana from So Eventful (so Marisa would enjoy the party with her friends!). It was a win-win! I loved hearing about how special the city is to this couple- how they met in San Francisco, Ryan proposed during a helicopter ride over the Golden Gate, and now they were saying their vows with it as their backdrop. Just writing this gives me all the feels!
This wedding had one of the best first dances I have ever shot- they moved all the ceremony chairs to the reception and had the first dances outside just as the sun was setting, so each couple got to dance on the deck with the sun setting and the lights of the GGB in the background. The song “When The Lights Go Down In City” came on, such a nostalgic moment for a Bay Area native. It was like being at a home game for the Giants (but better!). And then the bride danced with her Dad! First, to a song by Barbara Streisand (he told a sweet story during toasts about singing it to her as a baby) and then they rocked out to Michael Jackson (my kinda bride!).
Food was incredible, and I actually ran into a girl I used to babysit for who was on the wait staff (yep, way to make me feel old, Alyssa!). It was truly a magical evening (I know it sounds cliche, but wow! It was incredible!)
