Proposal in the Vineyards of Napa Valley
There’s nothing quite like meeting a guy you don’t know, on the side of the road, because in his email to me about location, the location wasn’t actually a “location”. It was literally a vineyard lined with olive trees on the side of the road in Calistoga! Lev and his girlfriend often took this drive from his place in St. Helena when she was visiting to go to one of their favorite dinner spots. They always commented on how beautiful that spot was, so he thought a proposal in the vineyards of Napa Valley would be a great place!
He and I met out there a few days before, to scout out the location and chat logistics, and it literally felt like time stood still while we were out there- I swear the sun didn’t move for 45 minutes!
So, here I am, on the day of, literally parked (again) on the side of the road, hanging out in a vineyard row with my cameras strapped to me. Trying to look inconspicuous, as cars are driving up and down the road, and I’m just hoping no one is going to stop and pull over to ask me what the heck I am doing lol. Have I ever mentioned I am a rule follower? For my clients, I do try to bend the rules a little from time to time!
I get a text from Lev that they are parked and walking through the vineyard up a ways and then towards me. What I learned later was that Taylor (the soon to be fianće) had gotten out and didn’t want to ruin her good shoes, so she asked if he had his spare flip flops in the car. He told her she was fine, but she insisted. So yeah, in their photos she is wearing his spare pair of Rainbow flip flops lol.
As they started walking up towards me and he turned her towards him, at first she thought he was joking (they apparently do this often!), but I had to laugh as he got down on one knee- her phone started to ring! In 5 years of shooting proposals, I have NEVER had that happen (which is honestly kind of surprising!). Thankfully it didn’t affect anything, and it was just so fun to capture this young love.
Lev had mentioned how cool the road to the side of the vineyards was ( it was lined with olive trees as well), so after the proposal was over, we walked over and had some fun since it was a pretty deserted spot in the street.
These two never stopped smiling or laughing, and were constantly hugging or snuggling- they made my job easy! Congrats, you two!
**So excited to share that this proposal was featured on People, US Weekly, Good Morning America, and more! Why? Lev is the son of Candace Cameron Bure, of Full House and Fuller House fame :)
