Proposal in the North Tower at Castello di Amorosa
I have shot MANY proposals at Castello, but never inside the walls- so when Mitch emailed me about his proposal in the North Tower at Castello di Amorosa, I got so excited to shoot a proposal there from a different perspective!
I arrived early in anticipation and in knowing that I wanted to make sure to prepare myself for new surroundings- I had even gone online and looked at someone’s drone footage to get an idea of what I was working with…just know, I work hard and I am dedicated to making sure things run smoothly, and that includes doing my homework!
Their tasting guide lead me to the stairs we needed to climb to get to the top, and man…I wish I would have worn my Apple watch to get credit for those steps! It was a bit of a haul, but wow- the view was worth it!
The Castello staff put together an amazing set up, a bistro table with celebratory champagne, flowers, and rose petals on the ground that moved lightly in the wind. I stood up there, testing my camera settings, in awe of the beauty of the clouds and the wonderful weather (it had rained the day before, so everything looked nice and fresh!).
I waited a bit, and then heard voices coming up the stairs and knew it was “go” time…and Mitch didn’t make me wait long- the moment they got to the top, he was down on one knee!
The look on Kara’s face showed us that Mitch had nailed it- she was so surprised! And then, after the initial shock was over, Mitch let us both know that he had family waiting on a Zoom call on standby to be included in the celebration virtually! What an amazing moment, to watch Kara get emotional seeing her family and sharing the news they were officially engaged!!
I took a few moments to capture her ring (what a stunner!) while they enjoyed a quiet moment alone, to soak in the excitement to enjoy their champagne. Then, we chatted for a moment about how he found me on Google, and he joked he knew he had to hire me when he heard I had been photographing proposals for 6 years, all “yeses” (he did a fist pump as he said, “she’s undefeated”!)
We then went downstairs to grab a few photos in front of the Castello, and had to laugh at all the farm animals that were going to end up in their photos- and they welcomed it!
I also learned that they are from North Carolina, which is where a lot of my husbands’ family lives- always great to connect with fellow Carolina fans!
