Best Wineries to Plan a Proposal in Healdsburg

My family moved to Healdsburg when I was 8 year old, but my Mom grew up in Healdsburg; so I consider Healdsburg my true hometown- and I had no idea just how lucky I was until I became a photographer!

Any time I am talking to a client or someone from out of the area and they find out I live in Healdsburg, they gush! "Such a quaint town!" "It's so beautiful there!" "We fell in love when we visited, and go back as often as we can!". So it felt super appropriate for me to chat up the best wineries to plan a proposal in Healdsburg.

In no particular order (all have different reasons for being amazing!), and all may not be in the town of Healdsburg, but are within 15 minutes of the area, with plenty of wineries to stop at along the way!

Cast

I love Cast for several reasons-

1- Off the beaten path, but not so far away that you feel you are in the middle of nowhere!

2- The view!

3-The staff is so welcoming, they give an exceptional tour, and they make you feel at home there!

BACA

BACA Wines tasting room has a great outdoor area with a view of the vines (obviously since it was winter when this proposal happened, there are no active vines, but the mustard was growing early). If you choose this spot, I highly recommend signing up for the first tasting of the day, so that you can ensure more privacy. There was one other group inside the tasting room, but they had the outdoor location to themselves.

Hanna

I talk about the view a lot here, but it's true- this is why people come to Alexander Valley! Their tasting room is lined with windows so you can see a wrap around view, and there is a great area below to take a glass and enjoy the sun.

Bella

Bella has a super fun grass area surrounded by olive trees, very low key and family friendly, as well as a cool wine cave, and a vineyard in the back that feels more intimate.

MacRostie

So, I am sure you know what I am going to say by now, right?! Yep, the view! MacRostie is great if you are looking for a more hip, modern vibe. It's also great if you are planning to have a group come along, as they have a room you can reserve. And, to make it extra special? They do a blind taste testing in case you want to add a surprise element to things!

Kistler

The tastings here are by appointment only, so you are assured to have the place to yourself for a more intimate feel! Also, if you are worried about the weather, the house has a wonderful wrap around porch!

La Crema

La Crema has a great tour by a fancy golf cart that shows you the whole property, followed by a stop among the vines with a great area to sip and snack.

Martin Ray Winery

This property is so beautiful! Lush gardens, vineyards, and a laid back vibe that just makes you want to settle in for the afternoon. They also have the perfect spot for a proposal, which you can book with them directly. This is a hidden gem in Santa Rosa, totally worth the extra drive!
