Proposal at Baker Beach | San Francisco, California

As most of you know by now, Sonoma and Napa County was forever changed last week when a fire ripped through our towns. Thousands of homes and businesses were burned to the ground. Because Northern California is known to many as the Gateway to the Wine Country, this affected more than just the residents. The town of Napa and Sonoma were evacuated, which made everyone change their travel plans very last minute. One of those people was Eric, who had been planning to surprise his girlfriend by proposing. I felt so honored when he and his sister reached out to me to photograph the proposal at Baker Beach. I know it wasn't among our infamous vineyards, guys...but is was so beautiful at the beach!I was actually joking with my husband that I have never been to Baker Beach unless I am shooting there! We live about 1 hour away, and Bodega Bay is usually the coast we head to. But let me tell ya...when you are lucky enough to catch the beach on a day where the fog isn't too think, and you can see the view of the Golden Gate Bridge? It's just plain magical!I made a plan with Eric to meet at the beach, and hide out like a normal proposal. I know what they were wearing, so we kept a look out. Of course, it never fails that when you are nervously waiting for THE couple, you see a million "possible" couples! We even saw one that looked like the guy might be getting ready to pull something out of his back pocket! I started to click away. Yep, not them! I swear I feel like a stalker! The other entertainment for the evening was discovering a nude man frocking down the beach. I just prayed that he wouldn't photobomb! And then the part we were all waitting for, the right couple came on view. Now, Eric and I had discussed once he got the beach, going to the right where the GBG view was. However, what we didnt plan for was her deciding she liked the view to the left better. Let's just say I ran as fast as I could in sand to re position myself! It all worked out and it was wonderful! And to make it even more fun, after the shoot was "over", we headed to the hotel 20 mins away where friends and family were waiting to document the second surprise! I loved the look on her face when she first saw family, and then me clicking away! Congrats, you too! For more fun proposals, check here!
